Cross-stitch a
shore-inspired sampler. Stitching is a great way to relax while sunning,
or to capture the decelerated momentum of leisure any time of the year. Finished size: 11" x 14"/28cm x 36cm, plus frame

Materials
21"/46cm x 36cm piece of white 10-count cross-stitch cloth, such as
Aida Cloth
DMC®
Embroidery Floss
in each color listed on key
wooden picture frame
with 11" x 14"/28cm x 36cm opening
embroidery needle

scissors

straight
pins

ruler

double sided tape

iron
and ironing board
Embroidering
-
Fold cloth in quarters to find center. Starting in
center of cloth, follow
chart.

To cross-stitch design, using 2 strands of floss in
needle for cross stitches and 1 strand of floss in needle for outline
stitches. Work from center out, making each stitch over 1 square of
cloth.

When work is finished, reshape face-down on ironing
board; steam-press. Let cool; trim embroidery to 16" x 19"/41cm x 48cm.
Finishing
Remove backing and mat from frame. Place embroidery face down; center
backing on embroidery. Trim corners diagonally, leaving 1/2"/1.5cm of
fabric at each corner. Fold corners diagonally to wrong side of backing;
tape in place. Wrap edges of embroidery to wrong side of backing; tape
sides in place. Replace backing in frame.
