The Green Jewel Coneflower is a beautiful light green coneflower that I received from Nature Hills Nursery in June to plant in our garden. It arrived just in time for the warm summer weather and to plant next to our Black-eyed Susan and Hydrangea plants.

The Coneflower Green Jewel (Echinacea ‘Green Jewel’) arrived in a tall box from Nature Hills Nursery ready to plant! After taking it out of the box I noticed that this fragrant jewel every garden must-have in coneflowers! The Stunning coneflower features a large, green cone-like center that is surrounded by soft-green petals that stay true to their color as they age. Echinacea Green Jewel was discovered by Piet Oudolf and introduced through Future Plants, and now delivered to your door by Nature Hills!

This plant requires full sun and partial shade for best health, strength and color.

I received the Green Jewel Coneflower from Nature Hills Nursery in a tall box from FedEx. The Proven Winners coneflower was in perfect health and ready to be planted. Now, the Green coneflower is something new to our garden.

While we have several pink coneflowers, Black-Eyed Susans, Hydrangeas and other perennials and plants in our garden. We have never had a light green flower like this one. It’s interesting because most of our flower are pink, yellow, white, or purple. The green jewel tone is a new and hardy plant addition that is perfect for our climate in the mid-west. The zone for the Green Jewel is 3-8 which can handle our cold winters!

Green Jewel Coneflower Care and Information

When first planting the Green Coneflower be sure to keep it moderately watered until it is established. After that they are drought tolerate. Be sure to keep it in well-drained soil and moderately fertilized to keep the blooms popping!

Divide clumps when they become overcrowded, about every 4 years and enjoy doubling your plants for you or a friend!

Description

These tender perennials sprout every spring and fill out with rough scratchy dark green leaves that are sword-like and pointed upright clumps. Green Jewel has truly lime-green flowers on a nice compact habit. It is perfect for fresh cut or dried floral arrangements! Easy care and low maintenance perennials, Coneflower are wonderful colorful plants!

Echinacea are fantastic pollinator plants calling bees and butterflies and are nectar-rich pollen resources for native species and beneficial pollinators. These long-lasting blossoms usually rebloom without deadheading, but if spent flowers are removed, this procedure will encourage continued beautiful blooms and improve general appearance.
